SKS vendors?
I've decided to buy an SKS in 7.62x39. Needless to say, the somewhat local shop has none to choose from. Sukhoi_fan has posted a nice site before, www.classicarms.us, which has Yugo SKS in excellent condition for $200. The only problem is that California has been kind enough to declare the "grenade launcher" on the end of the muzzle of the Yugo types to be dangerous devices, and thus they're not "legal" here (you can unscrew them, then screw on a muzzle brake, and then solder it to make it permanent, and that is supposed to make them lawful).
Does anyone know of any other sites, similar to the Classic Arms site, that have SKS's available? I'm particularly trying to find a nice Russian, Albanian, or Chinese (Norinco) model, as these do not have the evil grenade launcher, and do have chrome bores... and preferably a "new" aka unissued model. I'd like to order one to be shipped to the nearest gun shop, and then pick it up via an FFL transfer. I'll be ordering tonight or tomorrow morning if I can find a source soon enough... don't see any sense in waiting for the prices to go up any more or for them to get any scarcer. Thanks, everyone! PS - it seems the classicarms.us site has cases of Wolf or Golden Tiger 7.62x39 for $170, and aimsurplus.com for about $10 less than that, so I'll probably stock up on some of both, unless anyone recommends one brand (Wolf or Golden Tiger) over the other. |
Re: SKS vendors?
I bought a Romanian SKS from Samco, they also have the Yugo without the grenade launcher.

Re: SKS vendors?
Thanks, RR 58. Looks like they're unfortunately all sold out of the Cali "legal" ones, except for the fair/unmatched ones for $150. If it comes down to one of those or nothing, I'll go for one of those.
Any other resources in the meantime? I know there are other places that sell them online, just having trouble finding them via google. |

While not a seller's site I recommend this
http://www.surplusrifle.com/sks/index.asp Serves me well. |
Re: SKS vendors?
Anyone have any experience with these guys?
http://www.americanweapons.us/CURIO%...RELICS%202.htm They have the Yugo M59 (which doesn't have the Cali-illegal grenade launcher) for $235... doesn't say how nice a condition they're in. |
Re: SKS vendors?
Never heard of them and prices look very high. You are probably better off looking on gunbroker or other auction sites for a russian, romanian, or chinese sks.

Re: SKS vendors?
I doubt you'll find a better price than Samco, but you might try J&G and www.aimsurplus.com .
Sorry, but I've never run across a "nice" SKS, to me their one redeeming quality (It pains me to use "quality" and "SKS" in the same breath) is that they're cheap. |
